Elke tweede zondag van december, wordt wereldwijd Wereldlichtjesdag gehouden. Precies om 19.00 uur plaatselijke tijd steken mensen overal rond de aarde dan kaarsen aan ter nagedachtenis aan alle overleden kinderen. Op deze manier is een ieder verbonden met het denkbeeldige lint van licht dat begint in Australië en reizend met de tijdzones de wereld rond gaat, om stil te staan bij dat ene kind dat zo wordt gemist.
Op zondag 10 december 2023 staan we met elkaar stil bij het gemis van de kinderen en de emoties die daarbij horen. Zo steunen en troosten we elkaar. In het najaar vindt u het programma en de wijzigingen voor de komende bijeenkomst.

– The Worldwide Candle Lighting Day Leidsche Rijn Foundation –
Every second Sunday in December the world is connected by an imaginary string of candle light. On that day, at exactly 7PM local time, people all over the world will light candles in memory of all the children who have passed away. By doing this, we all are connected to the imaginary ribbon of light that starts in Australia and travels around the world along the time zones, in remembrance of that one child, who is ever so missed. In the Utrecht Leidsche Rijn district, we annually hold this ceremony at the Kerk aan het Lint. This year we shall reflect on the absence of children and the emotions that go with it on Sunday the 10 th of December. To support and comfort each other.
Parents, family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, all are welcome to join us in this ceremony. You will find the program for this year’s event further on this website.
